Martin reckons that 60 per cent of those who have already signed up to the DBX are new to the brand. The SUV is vital to the brand’s survival, the value of which has taken a hammering over the last year.
Aston Martin humbly reckons the new DBX ‘sets a bold new standard in this sector’. It sits on a unique platform, utilising bonded aluminium construction. The firm says this stiff design enables exceptional dynamics both on and off-road. It uses a 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 making 405kW and 700NM and the DBX is claimed to hit 100 in 4.5sec.
Aston Martin has given the DBX a relatively high standard specification, including ‘all available active safety systems’. There is a 10-inch screen on the centre console and a 12-inch instrument panel. Apple CarPlay is standard, as is a 360-degree camera system and ambient lighting that offers 64 different colours in two zones.
According to the company; “Small touches throughout, including separate central armrests, glovebox design and the ergonomic positioning of the car’s key control systems, have been guided carefully by the input of the brand’s Female Advisory Board, dealership feedback and a variety of private focus groups held worldwide. Not limited to this area, the guidance provided has been key to the success of DBX’s overall design.”
The first local customers will get their new wheels from mid-year.
